Glen Rock advanced to the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 1, Group I championship game in the post-season girls’ soccer tournament on Monday. Seeded No. 2, the Panthers edged third-seeded New Milford and will clash with No. 5 Westwood on Thursday in a game set to start at 2:00 PM at a site to be announced. The win raised the Panthers overall record to 17-1-1.
Kristin Trentham scored the game-winning tally that snapped a scoreless stalemate six minutes into the second half. It was the fifth goal of the campaign for the sophomore forward. Goalkeeper Sarah Volkommer continued her outstanding play between the pipes as she was credited with nine saves in recording her 16th shutout of the season. She has surrendered only two goals over 19 games.
Glen Rock had opened its quest for the sectional title by blanking seventh-seeded Butler 2-0 in a quarterfinal round matchup on Thursday. Volkommer made three stops as the Panthers built up an 11-3 advantage in shots on goal. Kiera Quinlan and Caroline Glass netted first half goals with Christine Patoir credited with the only assist of the contest.
The four sectional champions will meet in the Group I semifinal round on Tuesday, November 11 with the championship game set on the campus of The College of New Jersey on Saturday, November 22. The Panthers are looking to return to the Ewing campus of TCNJ after playing Pennsville, the South Jersey champion, to a scoreless tie that ended with the two teams as co-champions

On Wednesday, Glen Rock edged Pompton Lakes 1-0 in a B-PSL girls soccer match played in Pompton Lakes. The win upped the Panthers’ glittering record to 15-1-1. Keeper Sarah Volkomer turned away eight shots on goal to record the shutout but it took a goal by Abbie Paris with less than three minutes remaining on the game clock to pull out the victory. Rachel Fisher and Kristin Trentham distributed the assists.

Glen Rock’s unbeaten and unscored upon girls’ soccer team had to go to the shootout format to defeat Holy Angels 1-0 in the first round of the Bergen County Girls Soccer Tournament on Sunday. It was the 13th straight "W" for the Panthers while the Angels dropped to 10-4.
Following 90 minutes of scoreless action through regulation and two overtime periods, Glen Rock got goals from Kiera Quinlan, Abby Paris, Christina Patoir and Catherine McCarthy in the shootout. Keeper Sarah Volkommer stopped three of the five Angels’ kicks and finished with 14 saves to advance the No. 6 Panthers into the quarterfinals that will be played Sunday at Indian Hills. Glen Rock will clash with third-seeded Ramsey which ousted Tenafly 1-0.
Last Wednesday, Glen Rock trounced Immaculate Conception/Lodi 8-0 as Volkommer came up with a pair of saves. Eight different players riddled the Apaches’ teepee as Jess Dello, Chrissy Guariglia, Lynn Matanie, McCarthy, Abbie Paris, Patoir, Quinlan and Kristin Trentham scored goals. Paris was credited with three assists and Quinlan two.

Glen Rock kept its hopes of an unbeaten season alive on Monday afternoon when the Panthers blanked Waldwick 1-0 on the Warriors’ home turf. It was the 11th straight victory for Glen Rock while Waldwick dropped to 8-4 in the B-PSL girls’ soccer competition. Goalkeeper Sara Volkommer continued her outstanding play between the pipes as she came up with three saves to earn credit for the shutout. Caroline Glass snapped a scoreless stalemate when she netted the only goal unassisted in the second half.
Last Tuesday, the Panthers routed Garfield 6-0 as Volkommer made two saves in registering the shutout. Glen Rock burst out to a 4-0 lead at the end of 40 minutes and coasted in the second half. Kiera Quinlan tallied a pair of goals while Kate Anderson, Glass, Betsy VanLangen and Eileen Ward delivered solo goals. Megan Glass, Chrissy Guariglia and Abbie Paris were credited with assists.

Lynn Matanie posted a second hat trick performance of the week to power Glen Rock to a 3-0 win over Hawthorne Christian in a non-league girls soccer match played in Glen Rock on Friday. It was the eighth straight victory for the unbeaten Panthers as Matanie was chosen the bergen-passaicscholasticleague.com Player of the Week.
Matanie netted the game-winner in the opening half and added a pair of insurance tallies in the second half with assists from Megan Glass and Kiera Quinlan. Keeper Sarah Volkommer turned aside the only two official shots on goal to record the shutout between the pipes.
Last Wednesday, Glen Rock romped to a 7-0 rout of Lodi after leading 2-0 at the intermission. Matanie recorded her first hat trick effort of week as she tallied three goals. Rachel Fisher, Glass, Kathryn McCarthy and Meghan Miehle added solo goals. Picking up assists were Lindsey Nygren, Kiera Quinlan and Reilly while Volkommer came up with one save in registering the shutout in the goal.

Sara Volkommer turned aside a combined total of six shots on goal as Glen Rock posted back-to-back shutouts on Thursday and Friday in B-PSL girls’ soccer matches. On Friday, Midland Park was blanked 3-0 and a day earlier, Eastern Christian fell 1-0 with Volkommer making three saves in each contest. Kiera Quinlan netted the game-winning goal in both games while Katie Gero and Meghan Glass added solo goals in the Midland Park encounter.

Glen Rock scored three times in the opening half and went on to defeat Waldwick 4-0 in a B-PSL girls’ soccer match contested on Wednesday in Glen Rock. Sarah Volkommer and Taylor DeMaio shared the shutout by making a combined total of one save. Kristin Trentham tallied two goals whle Rachel Fisher and Kiera Quinlan added solo scores. Fisher, Kathryn McCarthy, Quinlan and Eileen Ward dished off solo assists.
The next day, Glen Rock routed Immaculate Conception/Lodi by a score of 6-0 after opening up a 5-0 lead by the halftime break. Chrissy Guaruglia netted two goals with Kate Anderson, Quinlan and Maggie Reilly adding solo goals. Katie Gero, Kathryn McCarthy, Trentham and Betsy Van Langen were credited with assists. In the goal, Volkommer and DeMaio both came up with two saves as they shared the shutout "W" between the pipes.

Keeper Sarah Volkommer was in mid-season form when she shut out Hawthorne 1-0 in the opening game of the B-PSL girls’ soccer team that went into overtime on Saturday. Volkommer came up with three saves. Kristen Trentham snapped the scoreless drought when she tallied the only goal of the game in the OT period.
