Panthers drop two on rink

Glen Rock dropped a pair of confrontations with New Jersey Interscholastic Hockey League – North Conference – Blue Division rivals during the past week. The Panthers lost to Ramsey 5-2 and were blanked 8-0 by Mahwah.
Four members of the Class of 2004 participated in the scoring for the Panthers against the Rams. Davis Fusco scored off an assist from Christopher Meola and Michael Donoahue lit the scoring lamp with an assist from Jay Larkin.
Sophomore goalie Josh Edsall was peppered with 31 shots, coming up with 26 saves. The Panthers got off 24 official shots.
In the Mahwah encounter, Edsall and senior Cosimo Tattoli both saw action between the pipes, stopping 25 of 33 official shots on goal while the Panthers failed to score on 23 shots at the Thunderbirds’ cage.
There are nine seniors on the varsity roster including Andrew Dagenais, Bobby Graziano, Kevin Kearns, Jay Larkin and Brendan Trotta. Six of the players are members of the Class of 2005 and include Anthony Anonellis, Conor Cassin, John Descalzi, Nat Probert, Patrick Scerbo and Brian Seigel.
In addition to Edsall, the sophomore class is represented by Dan Descalzi and Robert Natale while two freshman, Ricky Garbaccio and Gregory Mauro have been moved up to the varsity.

Panthers battle Patriots to tie in season opener

Glen Rock battled Wayne Hills to a 2-2 deadlock when the squads opened the New Jersey Interscholastic Hockey League and NBIL ice hockey campaigns on Wednesday at the Ice House. The Panthers’ game against Northern Valley/Demarest scheduled for last Saturday was postponed due to the weather.
Defenseman Mike Donohue gained the distinction of scoring the first goal of the 2003-2004 season when he drilled the puck into the Patriots’ cage in the second period. Picking up assists were center Nat Probert and his wing, Conor Cassin.
In the third period, center Brian Seigel netted the Panthers’ second goal with his wings Andrew Dagenais and Davis Fusco picking up assists.
Goalie Josh Edsall turned in a strong effort between the pipes, coming up with 29 saves.
