Laxwomen score dozen goals in back-to-back wins

Published in Glen Rock Gazette - 4/15/05

Glen Rock's inaugural girls lacrosse campaign is off to an explosive beginning as the Lady Panthers followed their opening match 12-1 rout of Sparta last Wednesday by thumping Mount Olive by a similar 12-1 score in Flanders on Monday. Glen Rock is playing as an independent this season.

First-year head coach Katie Haarmann has taken last year's club program to an amazing start in its inaugural season. Glen Rock roared out to a 7-0 by the halftime break in the school's first-ever varsity game that was played in Glen Rock. Maggie Reilly stole the spotlight, turning in a hat trick performance as she netted four goals while Liz Campbell chipped in with a pair of scores. Liz Campbell, Courtney Gilmartin, Julie Hook, Kat Kellerman, Samantha Litt, Kate Lynch and Alysa Pompeo etched their names in the scoring column while Kellerman distributed three assists and Lynch was credited with a solo assist.

Goalie Corey Morel came up with 13 saves in a game that will forever be in the Glen Rock sports' history books.

On Monday in Morris County, it was the same result against the Marauders of Mount Olive as nine Lady Panthers scored. Hook, Pauley and Pompeo tallied two goals apiece with Pompeo picking up an assist. Klil Babin, Campbell, Gilmartin, Kellerman, Lynch and Jackie Weissman contributed solo goals to the rout with Litt picking up an assist. Morel made five saves between the pipes in notching her second straight "W" in the goal.
